AV333 (Chronic Neuropathic Pain)

AV333 also acts upon neuropathic pain through a glial cell attenuation mechanism. However, AV333 is a plasmid that drives the production of the potent anti-inflammatory cytokine, IL-10, at the spinal cord to reverse the pain resulting from glial activation. AV333 is delivered by an intrathecal injection similar to the routine procedure used to deliver spinal analgesics. Standardized animal models have shown that AV333 is well tolerated and completely reverses neuropathic pain symptoms for up to 90 days from a single course of treatment, as presented at the 8th International Conference on Mechanisms and Treatment of Neuropathic Pain (2005).
